5 out of 5 stakes!
I enjoyed how this book started out. We get to learn about the characters and a little bit of what they are going through and have dealt with.
Rome is a cool character. At first I was like wow he really doesn’t care who he sleeps with because he is the Playboy of his town. Everyone knows this, he doesn’t settle down.
But when a job opportunity comes along that he honestly can’t refuse because it’s his dream job. He jumps at the chance to take it. However once there he realizes what a mistake he has made he can’t work with the person. Rome thinks she is just some spoiled brat.
Lauren hasn’t went on tour in such a long time she is so nervous. And after that has happened in the last few years no one can blame her. However some don’t know her whole story. She keeps to herself now. Never getting attached to anything or anyone.
Enter Rome Playboy musician and everyone knows it. Lauren has heard him play and wants him on this tour. But as she lays down the rules for everyone especially Rome. She quickly realizes that some rules may be broken with him. Lauren pushes Rome into playing better and if she comes off as a brat so be it.
But as they work together more and more can she let him in and trust him or trust anyone? Can Rome be the one for her? Will Rome realize he can settle down and she Lauren is the right woman for him? Can they both leave their past behind long enough to see what is in front of them?
Promise Me Forever Synopsis:
He Knows How Lucky He Is…
That Doesn’t Mean He’s Happy
I get it – A lot of folks would kill to be in my shoes. I make my living playing guitar. That beach anthem you’ve had on repeat all summer – the one with the pickup trucks and drinking beer by the bonfire… I’m the guy playing that killer guitar riff on it.
The problem is, I hate my job.
I’d rather be playing classical music. I want my legacy to be more than the answer to some question in a game of music trivia. In a guitar-town like Nashville, though, gigs playing my kind of music are few and far between.
My brother-in-law lines up an audition for me with a classical musician looking for someone to play on tour, and I jump at the chance. When I meet the brooding star for the first time, though, I know I’ve signed on for a lot more than I bargained for. She may be young, but she’s endured pain enough for a lifetime, and more. Peeking through that broken armor of hers is more beauty than I thought was possible in one person.
I’ve never been the type of guy to settle down with one woman. She’s making me rethink that, and just about everything else I thought I knew.
She’s looking for forever. I just hope that’s a promise I can keep.

4 out of 5 Stakes!
This book is very cute. It also touched on a lot of topics that are going on today with lots of people. And I like how the author brought them up. Like Alice and the creepy professor. Her fears from how he is acting and treating her. Her fears of telling anyone of what he says and how it effects her. Like can she tell anyone? Will they believe her? Enter her working on a doctor show as an extra she meets Griffin who is the star of the show. Griffin is the new hot young actor. Griffin has doubts about his acting career and if he is just that great as some say he is. How Alice and Griffin become friends is so very sweet. Basically over his dog Taco. He thinks Alice doesn’t like him. And Alice is just nervous around him because of her job and fear of trust of men. I don’t want to give away a lot about this book. I will say damn we all need to be an extra on a TV show and dog sit for a down to earth actor. Ha. But seriously Griffin is great and once Alice realizes that he isn’t all exactly what she has heard about him it starts to become can she trust him? And Griffin can he realize he is good enough and can do relationships. But with the right person. Can Griffin get past the career first before a person and can Alice trust long enough to see the person in front of her?
The hot doctor beside Alice—better known to television audiences as the adorably charming Dr. Ethan Convey—bent over to check the patient’s chest drainage unit. “Chest tube output is twelve-hundred cc’s. Prep for thoracotomy.”
His hip bumped against Alice’s, and she shuffled aside to give him more room. They were working in tight quarters, and part of her job was to stay out of everyone else’s way. But as she reached for a scalpel on the tray of instruments beside her, she misjudged how close it was and knocked the whole thing over, sending hemostats, forceps, and scalpels flying with a deafening clatter.
“Ow!” the man dying on the gurney cried out as he flinched away from the flying medical equipment.
“Shit. Sorry,” Alice muttered. Good thing their scalpels weren’t actually sharp.
The director ripped off his headset and approached with a thunderous expression on his face. It was Dean Harwell’s first time in the director’s chair on Las Vegas General, and the technical challenges of filming the show’s complicated trauma scenes had been giving him fits all week. Dean was moonlighting from his regular job as star of Las Vegas General’s better-rated lead-in, and had only ever directed two episodes of his own show before this. The producers had done him a favor letting him direct, but at this point it was clear to everyone that they’d made a grievous mistake. The guy was in way over his head, and had been taking it out on anyone and everyone with the misfortune to attract his attention.
Alice’s feet weren’t the only ones that shifted nervously as Dean stormed toward them. The other two nurses in the scene—a background actor named Diane and a minor recurring cast member named Abby—shrank back and hung their heads. Even Griffin Beach—who was in his seventh season as series regular Ethan Convey and had recently blown up the box office in the fourth installment of the blockbuster Troublemakers franchise—visibly winced. Only Alfie Crosby, a forty-year veteran of stage and screen sitting comfortably at the top of the call sheet seemed unfazed by the oncoming tantrum.
“Why is the dead guy talking?” Dean demanded, red-faced under his backward Yankees cap. “And moving?”
Once upon a time, Alice had actually thought Dean was hot, but that was before she’d had the pleasure of working with him. Funny how much less attractive some people became once you got to know them.
“He’s not dead yet,” Alfie said, looking more amused than anything. “There’s another page of dialogue before he codes.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alfie was being paid a cool half million per episode, so he could afford to be amused.
“She threw a tray of sharp instruments at my face,” the not-dead-yet actor mumbled in his own defense.
“Sorry,” Alice said again. In an entire season working background, this was the first time she’d ever ruined a take—but of course Dean didn’t know that.
“Background are supposed to be seen and not fucking heard!” he shouted. “It’s right there in the goddamn name: background!”
All the extras on his own show despised him. Alice had talked to some of them in the commissary last week, and they’d offered their condolences over Dean’s guest directing stint on LV Gen. Now she knew why.
Dean started to take a menacing step toward Alice, but Griffin Beach inserted himself between them. “It was my fault,” he said, facing down Dean with a level stare. “I bumped into her and made her knock the tray over. If you’re gonna be pissed at someone, be pissed at me.”
Alice could have hugged him for taking the bullet for her. Not that she ever would. There was a strict caste system in place on set. Extras who got too familiar with the talent would quickly find themselves out of a job and unlikely to be assigned a new one by the casting agency.
She hid gratefully behind Griffin’s broad shoulders and kept her mouth shut while Dean railed about professionalism and the fact that it was only eleven a.m. on Wednesday and they were already four hours and ten pages behind schedule. Someone might have pointed out that they were only behind because of Dean’s inexperience and repeated tantrums—this was his second outburst of the day and they were still hours away from lunch—but no one did, because it would only antagonize him and lengthen the duration of his tirade.
It was a full five minutes before he lost steam and stalked back to the monitors.
“Thank you,” Alice whispered to Griffin as soon as Dean was out of earshot.
Griffin gave her a wink so devastatingly sexy she felt her knees go wobbly. So much for not paying attention to how attractive he was.
“Don’t worry about that apple-faced goon,” he whispered back, covering the mic tucked under his shirt as he leaned toward her. “He’s not even qualified to be the assistant manager at PetSmart.”
Alice swallowed, momentarily paralyzed by the perfect storm of Griffin’s kindness and sexy proximity, combined with her own overwhelming gratitude and embarrassment.
“Boy, what a dickhead,” Alfie announced loudly, not caring who heard him. “Who told that moron he could direct?”
Griffin snorted and wandered back to his mark, leaving Alice to pull herself together and reapply her veneer of detached professionalism.
Props came through and reset the scene, Dean called action, and they started again from the top.
This time, Alice managed not to throw a tray of scalpels at anyone.

This book is just so adorable. I love it. By far Laura you have outdone yourself with this book. Alice is such a fun character. Now her parents and brother are something else. I can understand why Alice felt like an outsider. And Tom is likeable, he is funny and cute. His manwhore ways ha ha. So funny. I like how both characters opened their eyes and could see past things that always bug them. This is a quick fun read. I recommend this book for everyone who loves some romcom.

With a couple of nineties rom-coms tucked inside my purse, and a fresh carton of Ben & Jerry’s in a bag hanging off my forearm, buried in the bottom of my purse, I was determined to make up for lost time.
I knocked twice, like always. Once to make my presence known, and the next to make sure Max wasn’t in there screwing one of his many flavors—though I didn’t see his car either. Unlike every other time I’d stopped by, nobody answered…at least at first. But then I heard it—a grunt, followed by a, fuck me and then an, I’m coming, hold on.
“Oh, God.” I took a step back, looking over my shoulder toward the driveway, more than ready to run.
No, no, no. I knew that voice.
There was no time to escape, though, because a second later he was there. And quite frankly, my legs weren’t capable of moving, either. Because the moment that door whipped open and I saw him standing there, I was screwed with a capital S.
“McKenna…” He said my name on an exhale, while his hypnotic green eyes raked over me in one long, agonizing swoop. His cheeks grew bright red—making him look bashful and, adorable, not the tough- guy like his friends tried to be. When he bowed his head, I took a second to look him over too, frowning when I noted a clump of black sticky, gooey stuff clinging to the ends of his lashes, and a smearing of something shiny and red on the corners of his lips and clinging to his beard.
“H-hi.” I cleared my throat, attempting to remember why I was there in the first place. His The intensity emitting from this man tended to make me forget pretty much everything.
“What are you doing here?” He folded his arms over his massive chest. The same chest I’d touched… The same chest I’d kissed…
I blinked. “W-where’s Addie?”
He frowned and that beard of his shifted, conforming with the movements of his jaw. “Grocery store. She asked me to watch Chloe for half an hour.”
“You? Watch Chloe?” I snorted.
“Yeah. Me.” His eyebrows drew together as he propped one hand against the door frame, a dare in his words that said, challenge Challenge me, and you will lose.
Except I highly doubted this man could ever beat me in a match of wits. Regardless, he did havehad me mesmerized, like as always. His hotness, his coyness, the vulnerability I knew he embodied… Total. Human. Catnip.
I swallowed, watching his forearm flex. Gavin was humongous in every sense of the word. I may might have been a little tipsy when we’d had sex, but the delicious soreness between my legs the next morning proved that big was so very worth it.
My face grew hot at the memory, my mouth opening and closing like a dunce’s. Who was I? Where was I? And why the hell did I have an unexplainable urge to drop to my knees before him?
Because you like him.
I frowned and held my chin up high. “Mind if I come in and make sure you didn’t tie the tyke up?” Without waiting for a response, I ducked under his outstretched arm, holding my breath as I did. Unfortunately, the air in my lungs did little to block the heavenly, masculine smell he emitted. Spice, pine, soap… The combination made my lady parts tingle and my head spin in remembrance.
I didn’t do men for more than a night. Not anymore. Not since Penis-head Head Paul. So, what was my issue? One and done, that’s the way it was supposed to be. Not third time’s a charm, damn it.
Ignoring his are-you-kidding-me- expression, I headed into the living room, finding the coffee table filled with all things princess. Crowns, feather boas, fake earrings, and… “Is that makeup?”
He cleared his throat. “Yeah, um, give me a second, would ya?”
I grinned at him, watching, yet again, as he bowed his head—this time rubbing at the clingy black goo on his eyes and, yes, the red lipstick on his beard.
Oh. My. God.
He’d let the kid put it on him?
Be still, my beating heart.
5 out of 5 stakes!!
Wow this series gets better and better with every book I feel. Stakes are high in this one. More people are using the technology to hire assassin’s to go after high profile people. When old foes and new friends come together to stop the computers from taking over you stay on edge. The R group is great as always. We get more character background in this one. A little bit of everyone’s. Although not as much as I would like. But still we understand some of the characters. When politics and technology come together it’s scary. It’s almost as if the authors knew something we didn’t back then. Can we stop technology from thinking and taking over for themselves? I think we really see how hackers are truly taking over little things. Not just them but as people are so use to our computers and phones we forget to really take in everything. This series proves that.
