My thoughts and review for Accidentally family by Sasha Summers

5 out of 5 Stakes!

Oh my gosh, I just enjoyed this book. It made me feel all kinds of emotions. I was feeling angry for Felicity because of her ex husband with all what he put her through. And then I even felt for her kids.
Then I love how the author makes you feel sad and love at the same time. I got so teary-eyed reading this wonderful book.
And when we meet Graham, we find he is going through hell as well with his daughter and losing his wife a few years before.
So when Graham is there at the hospital with his daughter to give any updates on Felicity’s ex husband and his girlfriend and their son, their is a connection between Felicity and Graham again. From being old friends when his wife was alive and she was with her husband.
Then when Felicity sees that Graham is having trouble with his daughter and that she will need help going through everything with her unexpected life. She believes they can help each other out.
But when sparks start to fly and feelings start happening can they both move past their loss and be there for each other with kids and love.
I wish this was a series, I’d keep reading to see how everything turns out later in the future.

Publisher Weekly Review

“… Readers will find it easy to root for their mutual care to blossom into love, but the pair’s children have a tougher time adjusting to their new relationship, providing some thorny obstacles for the budding couple. Graham and Felicity are great parents and they make great partners, and Summers does a good job of grounding all the drama of their lives in sweetness. Readers will be pleased.”

Exclusive Excerpt:

Her sister was the strongest person on the planet, but she had to be running on fumes. Not that Felicity would say so, or confide, or lean—she was way too into the big-sister protector thing. Still, Matt had been dead five days. In those five days, her sister had been saddled with his funeral arrangements, keeping her kids’ spirits up, and the whole “when will the ex’s illegitimate love child and destroyer of her niece and nephew’s happy family wake up from his coma?” thing.

Charity felt for the baby, she did. But her loyalties were here, to Nick and Honor, and Felicity, too.

She grabbed a bag of sour-cream-and-onion chips and added it to her pile of snacks, then backed out of the kitchen. “Who’s hungry?” she asked, flopping onto the couch beside Honor.

Honor was watching the bloody melee on the television, a growing look of disgust on her face. “This is horrible. I keep jumping.”

Nick chuckled. “You should try it. Definitely calms the nerves.”

Charity snorted. She was pretty sure trying to shoot a zombie before it bit into you wasn’t relaxing. At least not her idea of relaxing.

“Right?” Diana added. “Dad took my game away because of the whole pot thing. It sucks, big time. Which is why I have lots of sleepovers.”

Charity didn’t say a word. She wasn’t sure how to read Diana yet. Was she really messed up? Or was she acting messed up for attention?

“Pot?” Honor asked.

Diana nodded, taking a licorice lace from Nick. “It’s no big deal. It was one joint. One. The school totally flipped out and expelled me.”

“You were expelled?” Nick looked skeptical.

“Why else do you think I’m going to your school next year?” Diana rolled her eyes. “Dad can’t buy my way back into any of the private schools. Why he thinks I’m better off at a private school versus a public school is beyond me. Where does he think I bought the pot to begin with?”

So, the real deal then. Not that she was going to judge the girl. She couldn’t imagine how hard it would be to lose a parent. There had been plenty of times during her school years when she’d wished her parents would leave her alone—disappear even. But death? Permanently losing one? She couldn’t imagine that.

Was this one of those times she should act like an adult or not? Felicity would probably pop off some after-school-special message that would instantly and forever change Diana’s outlook on life into some happy rainbow-and-cupcakes-kitten thing. But Charity didn’t know how to do that. She didn’t know how to be a mom. The kid in her belly was getting a raw deal. She needed to start taking notes on Felicity’s parenting style.

The Untouchables. That’s what everyone calls them. At least, it’s my best friend’s nickname for them. And since she’s the only one that talks to me at my new school, I’ll take her word for it.

The nickname probably comes from the fact that they’re exorbitantly wealthy. Old wealth. The kind that isn’t flaunted around. But you can tell by the way they carry themselves. Or maybe the name just refers to the fact that they’re so beautiful it’s almost hard to look at them.

No matter the reason for their nickname, it’s an ironic one. Because I’ve only been going to this school for a week and I already want to touch.

Title: Once In A Blue Moon
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Synopsis:
Florist Laney George has a successful business, amazing friends and big, big dreams––oh, and a broken heart. But she’s working through that last one. Then the man she hoped to never see again shows up––and Laney’s carefully ordered plans are experiencing technical difficulties.
Celebrated Author Adam Fitzpatrick planned to be in St. Clair for no more than a day. Sign the books, and get out. Same story, different day. What he didn’t count on was Laney George, who happens to be the star of his somewhat fictional tale. She broke his heart years ago, and he’d gone a bit mad. Okay, maybe a lot mad––and he put everything in his book, never imagining it would be a world-wide best seller.
Now that he’s seen her again, he wants answers. But it isn’t just her that draws him in. It’s the town, something is happening and for the first time in years…he can write again. If only he could convince the woman who hates him most to start a new chapter in their story.

Adam frowned as he studied the green wall in the airport restaurant. The strands of ivy had strange lines of yellow running through them, making them seem dead and lifeless. He reached out a hand and touched a leaf, then recoiled. Plastic. No wonder he didn’t like it. He pulled out some bills to pay for his coffee and got to his feet. A few weeks ago, he didn’t even know what a green wall was, yet now every time he saw one, all he could think of was Laney, her mouth pursed in concentration as she’d woven leaves and branches into the large metal frame.
And she could use a chainsaw.
So hot.
He walked through the busy terminal to catch his flight. He’d ended up having to stay two nights in New York and
spent most of the time wishing he was back in St. Clair. At least they’d raised double the money from last year’s event, and soon he’d be boarding his flight.
Eight hours later, Adam pulled his rental car up to the Belles and climbed out. The St. Clair breeze was fresh and warm and loosened the knots in his shoulders. All he wanted to do was wrap himself around Laney, drinking in her warmth. He’d called her from the airport, but it had gone straight to her messages. He paused and frowned.
They didn’t usually catch up until after six, but it had been two days. Besides, it must be six o’clock somewhere in the world.
The closed sign hung on the door, but she’d given him a key last week. He climbed the stairs two at a time and reached the top as she walked past holding a tray of hot drinks. Her hair was pulled back off her face and hung over one shoulder, leaving her neck exposed. Heat seared through him, and he went to cross the threshold.
Then she turned, and her entire body froze, knuckles turning white as she gripped the tray. Her mouth had taken on a horrified shape, as if he’d just walked across an entire garden bed of flowers. Adam stiffened in response. Not quite the homecoming he’d been expecting.
“Where did you say the other jar of olives was?” a voice called out from somewhere in the apartment. Jessica? Oh, hell. His rising heat faded as Laney’s eyes locked with his, her gaze pleading. Begging him to stay hidden.
“Don’t tell her. She’s already finished one jar today,” Brett’s voice chimed in from somewhere in the room.
Laney’s hands shook as the color drained from her face, and Adam numbly took a step back down the stairs. Some of the tension in her jaw lessened, and she gave him a pained smile before hurrying into the other room, where her guests were obviously waiting. A dismissal.
He rubbed his jaw as steel spikes jabbed at his gut. Had he been imagining that this thing they had was more than just a fling? Had he spent the last two days wanting to be with someone who didn’t want to be with him? A familiar wave of humiliation and anger swept through him. What I want doesn’t seem to matter.
The sound of their laughing voices chased him as he stalked back to his own apartment. Nothing like a reality check to remind him that, despite how well everything seemed to be going, Simon was still there.
I’m competing with a ghost.
That was why she hadn’t told anyone about their previous relationship. Why she didn’t want anyone to know about this one. His legs twitched, and he considered going for a jog, but to do so he’d have to leave the apartment and risk bumping into Laney and her in-laws again. Risk seeing the horror in her eyes at almost having her secret exposed.
Beer was the next best thing. He grabbed a can from the fridge.

His hair was damp, as if he’d just stepped out of the shower. He was freshly shaved, and the stark lines of his hard jawline set her pulse to rumbling.
“Big day?” His eyes swept over her.
“You have no idea,” she said, clenching her hands to stop herself from doing anything foolish. “How did it go?”
“See for yourself.” He nodded for her to join him in the adjacent courtyard. Bad idea. But even as the words echoed through her mind, she followed him.
The faint scent of cedar and soap diffused in the air. Why did he have to smell of outside? Wasn’t that cheating?
Her skin tingled. A beer and an upended book sat on the table, and on the ground lay an expensive-looking suitcase. A gray sweater lined it, with Violet curled up in a ball, deep asleep.
“Hey, girl,” Laney cooed, but instead of the dog waking up alert and ready for a pat, Violet’s ear twitched, and she opened a large, dark eye before shutting it again and resuming her nap. Laney turned to him. “What did you do to my dog?”
“We found some common ground.”
“Not with sticks, I hope?”
“No. We went sniffing,” he said, then groaned as she tried to stifle a giggle. “Correction, Violet went sniffing. I just tagged along. She really likes hay bales. And tree trunks. I like to think she’s now emotionally fulfilled.”
“She really had fun?”
“She only barked at me four times.” On cue, Violet opened an eye and barked at him before going back to sleep. “We’re almost BFFs. I took a video. Want to see?”
“A video of Violet sniffing?” she said, trying not to be moved by the fact he’d gone to so much trouble for her.
“Sure. Make it sound weird, why don’t you?” he deadpanned as he shed a phone from his jeans pocket. “Here’s proof.”
His arm brushed hers as he held up the screen. A nuclear charge raced through her body. She dug her nails into the palm of her hand. If she leaned into him, her head would be pressed against his chest. She couldn’t remember why it would be a bad thing.
The clip started, and Violet raced into view. Her entire body trembled with excitement as she buried her nose into the base of an old feeding trough. Her tail wagged. In the background, Adam laughed, urging Violet on in an encouraging voice. Every now and then, Violet glanced up at the screen, huge eyes wide with joy.
Oh hell.
My dog likes him.
Up until this point, Violet had been Laney’s voice of reason. Was it an omen her dog had turned Team Adam? Yes, her itch answered. “She definitely seems happy,” she said, not sure how to answer him. Or look at him.
“I’ve had worse dates.” He walked back to the table and picked up a beer. “Want one?”
No.
The more time they spent together, the harder it was to ignore the connection. It’s just physical. She pushed away the raw emotion in his voice when he’d told her about his career and his failed marriage. Not to mention the release of being able to confess how she felt about his book. The warmth of waking up in the morning and thinking about someone without wanting to cry.
It doesn’t mean anything.
“Sure,” she said as the blazing sky flooded the courtyard in a magical glow. Everywhere around her, it was spring. The flowers knew it; the bees knew it. I definitely know it.
His eyes twinkled in amusement as he twisted the top off the beer and passed it over. “Here you go.”
“Thank you.” Beads of moisture clung to the cool bottle. She wanted to hold it up to her burning face. This was getting out of control. She needed…something…from someone.

My thoughts on Storm and Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout

5 out of 5 Stakes!

I really enjoyed this book, looking forward to this next book.
Also the main character Trinity is great, I like how she kept pushing Zayne’s buttons sometimes. Also that they didn’t say exactly why they were protecting her right away. Just that she is different. I liked seeing old characters come up. And how things were explained about Zayne like where we left off with him and how he got to the place he is at.
Trinity is very loyal and you can see that through the whole book and when she feels things that she doesn’t understand for Zayne it all comes full circle in the end. Because we get to learn more than a few secrets.
