My review by Emmyjo for Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

My review for Anne of Green Gables Author: L.M. Montgomery Narrator: Colleen Winton Length: 10 hours 7 minutes; 9 hours. 5 minutes; 8 hours 20 minutes

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Post Hypnotic Press. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

5 out of 5 stakes!

First off I love this book. I have never read or listened to the audio Book before. Can’t wait to read/listen to the rest of the series.

Anne who is an orphan spends her time day dreaming. So when she gets adopted to live with a family she’s so very happy. However Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert who are siblings decide to adopt a boy to help out on the farm in Green Gables.

But Matthew is astonished to see a little girl at the train station. Little did he know then, that his life was going to change so much for the better. After some thought Marilla and Matthew decide to keep Anne.

But Marilla would be the one laying all the rules. Marilla is so very strict, not sure if it’s how she was brought up or not. I liked her character well enough just wish she would be a little nicer to Anne and show emotion more.

Now Anne who is 11 and has been in an orphanage for awhile has taken to day dreaming a lot. She has been told cause of her red hair she is wicked. Now she is very forgetful at first, and tells so many stories which Matthew loves to listen to. She becomes friends with Diana, and somehow manages to get into trouble.

This book we learn all about Anne’s imagination and her dislike for a boy Gilbert. Anne does start to take things a little more seriously as time goes on. But wow the stories she tells. I really think this book is fantastic. All the characters are well thought out and not just thrown in there for another person.

Synopsis of Book 1: Anne, a young orphan from the fictional community of Bolingbroke, Nova Scotia (based upon the real community of New London), is sent to Prince Edward Island after a childhood spent in strangers’ homes and orphanages. Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, siblings in their 50s and 60s, had decided to adopt a boy from the orphanage to help Matthew run their farm. They live at Green Gables, their Avonlea farmhouse on Prince Edward Island. Through a misunderstanding, the orphanage sends Anne Shirley. Anne is described as bright and quick, eager to please, talkative, and extremely imaginative. She has a pale face with freckles and usually braids her red hair. When asked her name, Anne tells Marilla to call her Cordelia, which Marilla refuses; Anne then insists that if she is to be called Anne, it must be spelled with an e, as that spelling is “so much more distinguished”. Marilla at first says the girl must return to the orphanage, but after a few days she decides to let her stay. Marilla feels that she could be a good influence on the girl and had also overheard that another disagreeable woman in town might take Anne in instead.

My review for Glittering Court #2 Midnight Jewel by Richelle Mead

5 out of 5 stars!

This book is truly enjoyable. I loved learning more about Mira and her story. How she came to the Glittering Court. Plus learning where she was always sneaking off to. I always wondered in the first book what was really going on with Mira. Plus we get her point of view on Adelaide and Tamsin even how she knew about Cedric. See Mira is really one of the good people. Although I don’t want to give anything away.. Mira meeting Grant and helping him out is great. Now how she met him is crazy, everything really ties together in this one. Mira just wants to help her brother out, but in doing so she kind of I think loses herself along the way. Because she is so consumed in finding and helping her brother she misses things in front of her. I love the banter between her and Grant. Both are so crazy that they lose sight of themselves.  The ending left it open for another book. Please let there be another book. I wonder if the 3rd book will be about Tamsin and her point of view? Her story? Or all 3 women that would be awesome either way.

My review for Misled by Kathryn Kelly. Also below author information and where to buy this awesome book, giveaway info.

This book is 4 out of 5 stars!

Book is awesome. I found I liked Meggie and Outlaw’s story. Meggie is basically running from her crap life and thinks going to her dad will help. Because her dad is the boss of the death dwellers. Her home life isn’t great at all. Meggie’s mother married a monster, woman abuser who also abuses Meggie. But when Meggie has had enough she tells her step-father that her dad will take care of him for hurting her and her mother.

But when she gets to the death dwellers she finds that her father is gone. Enters Outlaw who is the new President and tries to help Meggie against what the guys want him to do.

Now Outlaw and Meggie become sort of friends. They banter back and fourth as if they are a couple. But can both of them realize what’s in front of them before walking away? Outlaw’s secret may push Meggie away. But can Meggie tell outlaw really what happened between her step-father and her? With everything going on there is also a trader in the death dwellers. Also I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Kathryn Kelly. My review for Shades of Earth ( book 3) by Beth Revis

I will tell you it’s 5 out of 5 stars!

This book was just great. I mean I thought I couldn’t like the characters more.. but I do. Now in this one we find Amy and Elder landing in a new Earth with two suns.

But isn’t what they thought it was going to be. It’s worse then they were thinking. Elder’s fear of Amy’s parents and the rest of the military have taken over and there are secrets. When people start to disappear and turn up dead Amy and Elder have to find out who and why? But the monsters they are seeking are closer then anyone thinks. When trying to make contact with Sol-earth, they hear a recording from long ago. This one does have a twist that you may not see coming. I half guessed it right away. Meaning I was right in my thinking, but there is so much more to it. Amy and Elder are my favorite couple.

ALTERATIONS by Stephanie Scott

Book Blurb:

If anyone saw the prom boards Amelia Blanco makes on her favorite fashion app, they’d think Ethan Laurenti was her boyfriend. They wouldn’t know that all the plans she’s made for them are just dreams, and that she’s the girl who watches him from the kitchen while her parents cook for his famous family.

When Amelia’s abuelita enrolls her in a month-long fashion internship in NYC, Amelia can’t imagine leaving Miami–and Ethan–for that long. As soon as she gets to New York, however, she finds a bigger world and new possibilities. She meets people her own age who can actually carry on a conversation about stitching and design. Her pin boards become less about prom with Ethan and more about creating her own style. By the time she returns to Miami, Amelia feels like she can accomplish anything, and surprises herself by agreeing to help Ethan’s awkward, Steve-Jobs-wannabe brother, Liam, create his own fashion app.

As Liam and Amelia get closer, Ethan realizes that this newly confident, stylish girl may be the one for him after all . . . even though he has a reality TV star girlfriend he conveniently keeps forgetting about. The “new and improved” Amelia soon finds herself in between two brothers, a whole lot of drama, and choice she never dreamed she’d have to make.

Book Blurb:

This full-length novel by debut author Natalie Blitt is a pitch-perfect blend of Stephanie Perkins and Miranda Kenneally that proves the age-old adage: opposites attract.

Seventeen-year-old Abby has only one goal for her summer: to make sure she is fluent in French—well, that, and to get as far away from baseball and her Cubs-obsessed family as possible. A summer of culture and language, with no sports in sight.

That turns out to be impossible, though, because her French partner is the exact kind of boy she was hoping to avoid. Eight weeks. 120 hours of class. 80 hours of conversation practice with someone who seems to wear baseball caps and jerseys every day.

But Zeke in French is a different person than Zeke in English. And Abby can’t help but fall for him, hard. As Abby begins to suspect that Zeke is hiding something, she has to decide if bridging the gap between who she is and who he is is worth the risk.

Rule #1: Military and matrimony don’t mix.

But if there’s one person Staff Sergeant Danny MacGregor would break all his rules for, it’s Bree–his first friend, first love, first everything. Maybe he likes playing the hero. Maybe he’s trying to ease ten years of guilt. Either way, he’ll do whatever he can to help her.

My review for Lux and Lies ( Whitebird Chronicles #1 ) By Meg Collett

                   My review for

                   Lux and Lies

( Whitebird Chronicles # 1 )

Meg Collett

5 out of 5 stars!

This book is so fantastic. I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to know what was going to happen. I even dreamed about it. Had to wake up and finish it. So took about two days of that.

Wren who is dying from cancer is offered a chance to get a cure when it becomes legal. But the catch is she has to pretend she’s some famous actress Sloan Lux who died. And VidaCorp doesn’t want that information leaked out to the public. Because there is an upcoming realality show that will be starting. So does Wren take it and make changes to herself and become someone else to live?

Wren decides to make that deal and that’s when things become so crazy that she begins to wonder if she can pull this off. With Hutton who was sort of friends with Sloan and her P.A. Wren begins to learn how to become Sloan. With Sloan’s on again and off again boyfriend Roman helping out they prefect Wren.

Then there is Bode head of security who is there to protect her so the new realality show goes off without any problems. However with the gang Whitebirds trying to stop vidacorp from making the cure legal. Which is Bode’s brother Hazen’s company and also who owns the realality show. Beau who is a  presidential candidate who wants to push to legalize the cure and is on the realality show as well with Wren/Sloan.

Basically this book is so awesome because it has a twist that I didn’t see coming towards the end. One that thinks oh wait a minute, I want more.

I liked all the characters in some way or another.

Genres: Science Fiction, Thriller, Young Adult

Mr. Robot meets UnReal in a story of celebrities and anarchists, reality shows and evil corporations, romance and self-discovery.

Nineteen-year-old Wren Iver is nothing more than a dying girl with cancer, but when megastar Sloan Lux dies right before filming starts on the year’s most anticipated reality show, producers scramble to secretly replace her—with Wren. She’s swept into Hollywood and promised a cure by VidaCorp, the nation’s richest bioengineering corporation, for simply replacing Lux. It’s a deal Wren can’t refuse.

The decision could get her killed, because she isn’t the only cast member with ulterior motives

The Whitebirds, a social anarchist group, has infiltrated the show, and they’ll stop at nothing to use Sloane Lux’s fame to derail VidaCorp’s efforts to legalize their controversial, life-changing drug—a drug that might kill more people than it saves. Caught in the middle of a game between a powerful corporation and ruthless anarchist group, Wren will do anything to survive.

Will Wren secure the drug she needs to survive, or will she become another casualty in the anarchists’ fight against VidaCorp?
