The hereafter:

The Hereafter by Jessica Bucher
Release Date: March 16, 2016

Nin has no recollection of her death.
The things she does remember, like her cruel boyfriend, troubled father, and absent mother, she’d like to forget.
Dylan doesn’t need to remember his death to know that he deserved it. Who needs memories when you have the scars?
Sparks ignite when the two, very different, strangers meet. Together they spend one endless summer exploring their new world. Suddenly, their after-lives hold more possibility and promise than their tragic teenage lives ever did.
But no dream lasts forever, and all too soon, harmful memories from their pasts emerge and threaten to tear them apart. Given the chance to change their fates, Nin and Dylan must decide– life or love.
Weaving through past and present and alternating perspectives, The Hereafter is an emotional journey about young love and second chances.

Where to begin with this wonderful story?

We first meet Nin, a young woman who is going to be graduating from high school very soon. Her best friend Serena and her planned out their future for California. However Nin’s dad is upset and doesn’t want her to go away really. See Nin has been helping clean up her dad’s mess almost her whole life because her mom couldn’t deal and left. She lives with her dad and grandma. Her dad battles with drinking and depression. But when something happens that’s out of her control she takes on the guilt and blame. She starts setting out on a I don’t care anymore life. She meets Matthew someone a little older then her. Matthew doesn’t treat her well and has a shady business. Which Nin finds out a little late.

Then we meet Dylan who has had a rough life where no one has really cared for him his whole life. He gets into serious trouble selling drugs and such. Dylan finally calls his brother from jail. Derek is only to happy to “help” his little brother out.

Derek tells him how he can make money and be his partner and it’s all great no trouble. But before long Dylan realizes this isn’t what he signed up for, however the money is great. But everything comes down to that one second that can change everything.

Nin finds herself on a beach not knowing why or how except one thing she knows is true… She died… But how?

Dylan wakes up by a trash bin in an alley and not sure how it why?

He meets Nin on the beach and they both have questions and aren’t sure why they are the only two around.

Check this lovely book out about love, changing the past and future.

This book is pretty great. We have lots of mystery and hidden secrets and dragons, even sword fighting. What’s not to like about this book? However it does have kind of two different stories that make you think one is in the past and one is present or future. But they do intertwine and basically come to together and make sense.

We first met Eric a young guy who is training to be a knight with Trog one of the best out there. But Eric is tired of just polishing boots and cleaning swords.

He gets into some trouble more then a few times trying to prove that he is ready and worthy.

Then we meet David and Charlotte who are in the present. David is a rich kid who lives with his God mother because his parents died. His best friend is Charlotte whom he is in love with.  David learns he is born with some magic and must go to another world and Dave a land there and Charlotte finds herself being sucked there with David.

Together meeting Slavandria learning about his birth right and such.

I don’t want to give away to many spoilers so just check this book out for yourself.

Review for Artifacts

My review for Artifacts

5 out of 5 stars!

This was a great read and I recommend it for younger kids that are in middle school or younger.

I finished this book rather quickly, just because it was funny and fun.

Lots of adventure with this book.

We meet Jax,Korie, Crunch,Tank, and Mouth. They are all ready for school to be out and to go to summer camp.

However there is a problem… Crunch gets in trouble with a teacher who thinks he has copied a report from his older brother.

They fix that issue only to have the teacher say Crunch needs to do extra credit to pass English. Which sends them all on an adventure to pass class and have fun.

The assignment is to find artifacts that go with fairy tales. But it leads them to trying to find a real treasure to change all the fairy tales forever.

They meet the lost boys and Captain Hook.

Not wanting to give anymore details away, I would for sure recommend giving this book a read through either for yourself or young boys and girls.

Asleep

“Hey,” Rose said, feeling stupid and idiotic for even trying to start a conversation with someone in a mental institution. “My name’s Rose.”

The guy didn’t respond. He merely stared at her the way she would a model in Life Drawing class, his intense brown eyes hooded by his forehead and lined by thick black lashes, soaking her in, memorizing her, making Rose feel raw and exposed. Every now and then his jaw clenched and popped. So much emotion simmering just below the surface, so much insanity. He’d make a perfect model himself with all that silent misery, hair swept to the side, broad shoulders and muscles stretching the sleeves of his white, cotton shirt, muscles he’d never get to use because he was stuck in here. Rose could almost envision him in one of her drawings, this guy standing in the background, still, hands in his pockets, staring at a girl in the foreground.

Shaking her head, Rose snapped out of her daydream. Drawing was part of the past that no longer mattered.

“Lights out,” Nurse Judy called, startling them both so badly they bumped into the table and left it quaking. She laughed. “Didn’t mean to scare you, dear.”

“It’s okay,” Rose said, rubbing her sore knee. “Keep it up, though, and I’ll have bandages everywhere.”

“My eldest daughter Isabel tells me I’m always sneaking up on her too. I insist she must have a guilty conscious to be so jumpy, but with you, I’m not so sure.” The nurse smiled again, kindly, her eyes glazed over, and Rose knew the woman was thinking about her daughter. “Well, I’ll try to be more careful in the future. But for now, off you go, to your room.”

“Good night,” Rose said to the guy.

But he didn’t respond, not that she expected him to. He gave Judy a long, hard glance, then got up and marched to a door on the opposite side of Hall A. Judy didn’t pay any attention to him as she wrapped her arm around Rose and ushered her off to bed, holding out a pill cup.

“Here you go. Meds and rest, Rose. Meds and rest. The best thing for you, aside from being open and honest with Dr. Underwood.” The nurse smiled in a way that said she knew open and honest hadn’t occurred earlier today.
